Parliament Question: Nira Deoghar Irrigation Project

SHRI MOHITE PATIL DHAIRYASHEEL RAJSINH: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) whether a proposal for financial approval of the Nira Deoghar Irrigation Project in Maharashtra was submitted to the Public Investment Board (PIB) and whether a PIB meeting was scheduled on June 7, 2024 for its evaluation; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the reasons for postponement of the said meeting at the request of the concerned Ministry/Department; (c) whether a fresh date has been fixed for rescheduling the PIB meeting and whether any follow-up proposal/request has been submitted to the PIB in this regard; (d) if not, the reasons therefor; and (e) the concrete steps being taken by the Ministry to expedite approval of the said project to ensure timely irrigation facilities to drought-affected farmers, particularly in the Madha Lok Sabha Constituency? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR JAL SHAKTI (SHRI RAJ BHUSHAN CHOUDHARY) (a) to (e) A memorandum for Public Investment Board (PIB) for inclusion of Nira Deoghar Irrigation Project of Maharashtra with estimated cost of ₹ 3,591.46 crore (June 2022 Price Level) under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna-Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (PMKSY-AIBP) was submitted by Department of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation to Department of Expenditure. The PIB meeting scheduled on 07th June 2024 was postponed. Revised date for PIB meeting has not been fixed. Approval for inclusion of a project under PMKSY-AIBP is taken up after successful appraisal of the project by PIB and its recommendations for inclusion under the scheme. *****
