Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the percentage increase in number of children receiving assistance under the non- institutional care programs under Mission Vatsalya;
(b) the number of children benefited from Mission Vatsalya in 2025;
(c) whether the Ministry has taken any initiative to integrate child helpline for child protection; and
(d) if so, the number of States where these helplines are operational? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT (SHRIMATI SAVITRI THAKUR)
(a) & (b): Under Non-Institutional Care, there has been 40.23 percent increase in number of children approved in FY 2024-25 in comparison to FY 2023-24. In FY 2023-24 a total of 1,21,861 children were approved and in FY 2024-25 a total of 1,70,895 children were approved under Non- Institutional Care.
2,47,777 children have benefited from Mission Vatsalya Scheme in FY 2024-25 which includes both Institutional Care and Non-Institutional care.
(c) & (d): Under Mission Vatsalya Scheme, States and Districts are mandated to implement a 24x7x365 Child Helpline service (1098) for children as defined under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act, 2015. Child Helpline has been integrated with the Emergency Response Support System-112 (ERSS-112) helpline of Ministry of Home Affairs and is functional in all 36 States and UTs.
