(b) Funds are allocated by this Ministry Scheme-wise, not State/UT-
wise. Under the “Creation and Up-gradation of Sports Infrastructure”
component of the Khelo India Scheme (KIS) and National Sports
Development Funds (NSDF), financial assistance has been provided
for development of sports infrastructure such as synthetic athletic
track, synthetic hockey field, synthetic turf football ground,
multipurpose hall, swimming pool, etc., across the country. The
details of the sports infrastructure projects approved and their
sanctioned cost, funds released, and physical and financial progress
under the KIS and NSDF across the country, including in Thanjavur
region, are available in the public domain on the dashboards of the
Ministry at https://mdsd.kheloindia.gov.in and
http://www.nsdf.yas.gov.in/nsdf-glance.html, respectively.
The Sports Authority of India (SAI) creates/upgrades infrastructure
only in its SAI Centres. At present, no SAI Centre is operational in the
Thanjavur region. Accordingly, no funds have been released.
(c) & (d) Yes, National Service Scheme is present in Thanjavur district.
There are 94 NSS Units and 9400 NSS Volunteers are enrolled in
Thanjavur.
The Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD),
an Institute of National Importance under the Ministry of Youth
Affairs & Sports, Government of India, does not conduct State-
specific or district-specific training programmes. The Institute
conducts training, capacity-building, orientation, and leadership
development programmes for youth and youth stakeholders across
the country based on programme objectives and nominations
received from the concerned Ministries/Departments, organisations,
and other stakeholders. Accordingly, no training programme has
been extended exclusively to Thanjavur district. However, eligible
participants from Thanjavur district may participate in RGNIYD's
training programmes through the proscribed nomination/selection
process under the respective national or regional programmes.
