(a) whether any steps have been taken to address the major obstacles
hindering the implementation of the Bharatmala Pariyojana and if so, the
details thereof;
(b) whether the said initiative promotes indigenous manufacturing and
infrastructure development and support self-reliant transportation and logistics
sector and if so, the details thereof; and
(c) the details of the total projects approved, awarded, completed and roads
constructed therein (in kilometers) till June 2025, State and year-wise?

(a) Project implementation of National Highways often faces several
challenges that affect the timely completion of projects, such as bottlenecks
relating to land acquisition, delays in pre-construction activities, financial
difficulties faced by contractors, force majeure events, and scarcity of
construction materials etc.To overcome these challenges and expedite project execution, various
initiatives have been undertaken. These include streamlining and expediting
the land acquisition process through Bhoomi Rashi portal, revamping the
Parivesh Portal to facilitate faster forest and environmental clearances,
enabling online approval of General Arrangement Drawings (GAD) for Road over
Bridges (ROB) and Road under Bridges (RUB) from the Railways, and
conducting review meetings at various levels with all stakeholders, including
State Governments. The Government is taking all necessary steps for timely
completion of these projects.
(b) Various initiatives have been undertaken to facilitate use of local
construction materials, research on new construction technologies and local
manufacturing of construction machinery & equipment, thereby strengthening
the local manufacturing system, reinforcing the idea of Make in India and
Atmanirbhar Bharat.
It improves connectivity to industrial corridors and ports in line with PM
GatiShakti principles leading to reduced logistics costs, and improved freight
efficiency, thereby strengthening India’s logistics ecosystem.
(c) Bharatmala Pariyojana Phase-I was approved by the Government in 2017
covering a length of 34,800 km across the country. Under the program,
projects covering a total length of 26,425 km were awarded and out of this,
20,770 km has already been constructed. The State-wise length of awarded
and constructed projects under Bharatmala Pariyojana upto June 2025 is
