**Summary:**
The Ministry of Science and Technology is currently supporting over 285 ongoing research and development (R&D) projects in Gujarat through its departments: the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), and the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR) - Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR). These projects aim to build R&D capacity and conduct fundamental and applied research across Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering Technology, Agricultural Sciences, and Medical Sciences. From fiscal year 2020-21 to 2024-25, institutions in Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, and Surat have been allocated over Rs. 603 crore. The breakdown of funding allocation is as follows: DST (Rs. 139 crore), DBT (Rs. 43 crore), and DSIR-CSIR (Rs. 421 crore). Specifically, the total allocation per city is: Ahmedabad (Rs. 45 crore), Gandhinagar (Rs. 88 crore), Bhavnagar (Rs. 425 crore), Vadodara (Rs. 24 crore), and Surat (Rs. 21 crore). The Ministry of Science and Technology through its three departments viz. Department of Science and
Technology (DST), Department of Biotechnology (DBT) and Department of Scientific and Industrial
Research (DSIR)/ Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) is supporting over 285 ongoing
research and development projects in the state of Gujarat. These projects support building R&D capacity and
conducting fundamental as well as applied research in key areas of Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences,
Biological Sciences, Earth Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering & Technology, Agricultural Sciences and
Medical Sciences.
During last five years i.e. 2020-21 to 2024-25, the institutions in Gujarat particularly in Ahmedabad,
Gandhinagar, Vadodara, Bhavnagar and Surat have been allocated with total funds, more than Rs. 603 crore
as per below details.
