Operation of PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) scheme

Will the Minister of Education be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the major developmental works undertaken by Government for expansion and
operation of PM SHRI (PM Schools for Rising India) scheme in alignment with objectives of
National Education Policy, 2020 across country, particularly in the State of Rajasthan;
(b) measures taken to improve infrastructure, teacher training and digital learning facilities in
these schools and the details thereof, Lok Sabha Parliamentary Constituency-wise in the State of
Rajasthan; and
(c) the district-wise number of children benefiting under this scheme in the State of Rajasthan
and whether any special provisions have been made for the aspirational districts of country under
said scheme, if so, details thereof?

(a): Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) is a centrally sponsored scheme
which aims to strengthen more than 14,500 schools across the country out of which 13,091 schools
have been selected as PM SHRI schools from 33 States/UTs along with KVS/NVS/NCERT. Of
these, 649 PM SHRI schools have been selected from the State of Rajasthan. These PM SHRI
schools showcase all the initiatives of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, be the exemplar
schools, and also offer benchmarking leadership to other schools in the neighbourhood. They
provide leadership in their respective regions in providing high-quality education in an equitable,
inclusive and joyful school environment that takes care of the diverse background, multilingual
needs, and different academic abilities of children and makes them active participants in their own
learning process as per the vision of NEP 2020.
In alignment with the National Education Policy, 2020, PM SHRI scheme has a provision
to saturate these PM SHRI schools with 21 NEP components such as computer lab/ICT lab/smart
classrooms, library with good furniture, internet facility, vocational skill education, guidance and
career counselling, fully equipped integrated science lab/physics lab/chemistry lab/biology lab,
playground with well-equipped sports facilities, school innovation council, youth and eco club for
mission life, Building as Learning Aid (BaLa) features and jaadui pitara for primary school
children, 10 bagless days for students, child tracking software for tracking the children attendance,
fully functioning handwashing facility and toilets, green school features etc. These PM SHRI
schools are to showcase all the initiatives of National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, be the
exemplar schools, and also offer benchmarking leadership to other schools in the neighbourhood.As informed by the State of Rajasthan, the details of the major developmental works
undertaken in PM SHRI schools are attached as Annexure-I.
(b): To improve infrastructure, PM SHRI schools across the country are saturated with
components such as Building as Learning Aid (BaLa) feature, jaadui pitara, child friendly
furniture, outdoor play materials, additional class room etc. in primary and elementary schools
and furniture, fully equipped integrated science lab/physics lab/chemistry lab/ biology lab, smart
classrooms, computer lab/ ICT Lab, skill lab, playground with well- equipped sports facilities
additional class room etc. for secondary and senior secondary schools. Further, as informed by
the State of Rajasthan the district-wise details of measures taken to improve infrastructure in PM
SHRI schools are attached as Annexure-II.
Under the PM SHRI Scheme, strengthening of teacher training is done through District
Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs). There is financial provision of up to ₹3.00 lakh per
DIET for capacity-building programmes of PM SHRI schools, along with assistance of up to
₹2,500 per teacher for training of subject teachers, principals, special educators, ICT teachers, and
master trainers. School principals are trained in leadership, management, and competency- based
pedagogical planning. Teachers are also trained on the Holistic Progress Card, school safety and
security, mental health and well-being, first-level counselling, and integration of ICT in teaching-
learning practices, thereby enhancing overall teaching quality and school leadership in PM SHRI
schools.
Further, PM SHRI scheme has a provision to incorporate digital learning in PM SHRI
schools by establishing ICT labs, smart classrooms, computer labs, internet facility and digital
libraries along with digital educational content. Platforms like DIKSHA are being utilized to
provide a repository of high-quality digital learning resources, enabling resource- sharing among
educators and students. As informed by the State of Rajasthan, the district-wise details of
approvals for digital learning facilities in PM SHRI schools are attached as Annexure-III.
(c): The district-wise number of children benefiting under PM SHRI scheme in the State of
Rajasthan is attached as Annexure-IV.
As per the PM SHRI guidelines, a maximum of two schools per block/Urban Local Body
(ULB) are selected with an upper limit on the total number of schools across India. Till date, a
total of 13,091 PM SHRI schools have been selected across the country of which 1864 are in
aspirational districts. The details of these PM SHRI schools, including those located in aspirational
districts, may be accessed on the website of PM SHRI scheme at the link:
