GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF AYUSH RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 335 TO BE ANSWERED ON 03.02.2026 Operationalization of AAMs in Belagavi district 335 Shri Iranna Kadadi:
Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) (Ayush health and wellness centres) operational in the rural blocks of Belagavi district of Karnataka;
(b) the details of the patient footfall and the availability of essential Ayush medicines in these centres;
(c) the status of the deployment of certified Yoga instructors in the AAMs of the district;
(d) the measures taken to integrate Ayush treatments for non-communicable diseases
(NCDs) in the District Hospital, Belagavi; and
(e) Government's plan to organize specialized Ayush health camps for the elderly and women in the remote villages of the district? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)
(a) to (c) 16 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs [AAM (Ayush)] functioning in the rural blocks of Belagavi District. As reported by the State, 83,095 patients were treated during the year 2025-26 and sufficient Ayush medicines are available at these centers. Further, 24 certified part-time Yoga instructors are working in AAM (Ayush) in Belagavi District.
(d) The following measures have been taken to integrate Ayush treatments for Non- Communicable Diseases (NCDs) at the District Hospital, Belagavi: i. Preference is given to Ayush medicines used in the management of Non- Communicable Diseases (NCDs) while procuring through State funds, Zilla Panchayat funds, and National Ayush Mission (NAM) procurement channels.
ii. Specialised Ayurveda therapies are provided to NCD patients under the guidance of specialist Ayush doctors. iii. Under NAM, a special diabetes camp titled “Madhumeha Niyantrana Karyakrama” has been launched, wherein diabetic patients are provided treatmentand their health parameters are monitored and recorded over a period of three months.
iv. Regular training programmes are conducted for Medical Officers at the Ayush Training Centre, with a focus on musculoskeletal disorders, metabolic disorders, and Standard Treatment Guidelines (STGs).
(e) As reported by the State Government the following special Ayush health programmes are being implemented for the elderly and women in remote villages of the district i. Preference is given to Ayush medicines used in the management of Stree Roga and geriatric care while procuring through State funds, Zilla Panchayat funds, and NAM procurement channels.
ii. Yoga instructors have been deputed to all AAM (Ayush) to provide daily yoga and dhyana sessions for elderly persons and women. iii. Specialised Ayurveda therapies such as Kati Basti, Janu Basti, Greeva Basti, and Shirodhara are provided to senior citizens under the guidance of specialist Ayush doctors.
iv. Under NAM, a special programme titled “Vayomitra” is being implemented for the health and well-being of senior citizens. v. Regular training programmes are conducted for Medical Officers at the Ayush Training Centre, with a focus on geriatric care.
vi. Ayush Grama is being implemented to promote an Ayush-based lifestyle by selecting villages for the adoption of Ayush principles and practices and by providing Ayush healthcare services. vii. Ayush Mobile Medical Units have been provided under the NAM to improve the health status of people in tribal areas.
