SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH PATEL: Will the Minister of AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ िष एवं िकसान क(cid:670)ाण मं(cid:361)ी be pleased to state: (a) the details of the tasks carried out under organic certification in Khargone and Barwani districts of the Khargone Parliamentary Constituency by various Certification Bodies (CBs) from the year 2010 till date year-wise, institution-wise and certification body-wise; (b) the details of Project Directors in the project, region-wise list of participating farmers alongwith the area-wise and year-wise details of the crops covered under each project; (c) the details thereof year-wise, production-wise and project-wise: (d) whether any Certification Bodies (CBs) or projects have been suspended or placed under a prohibited blacklisted category, if so, the details thereof; and (e) the details of suspended or blacklisted certification bodies/projects since the year 2010 till date including project, institution, area and farmer-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR AGRICULTURE AND FARMERS WELFARE कृ िष एवं िकसान क(cid:670)ाण रा(cid:475) मं(cid:361)ी (SHRI RAMNATH THAKUR) (a): The Government is implementing organic certification program namely, Participatory Guarantee System of India (PGS-India) through National Centre for Organic and Natural farming under Ministry of Agriculture and farmers’ Welfare and National Programme for Organic Production (NPOP) through Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) under Ministry of Commerce & Industries. Details of organic certification under PGS-India and NPOP in Khargone and Barwani districts along with number of certification bodies is enclosed at Annexure 1. (b) & (c): During 2024-25, there were 5566 organic grower groups covering 2184807 farmers certified by accredited certification bodies under NPOP. Details of the certified operators are available on public domain under the respective certification body’s website. Link are enclosed at Annexure 2. (d) & (e): The system for organic certification under NPOP involves a third-party certification system of organic processes and organic produce, which is certified across the supply chain by Certification Bodies which could be Govt. or private.Accreditation to the Certification Bodies is granted by the National Accreditation Body (NAB) operating under NPOP. The National Accreditation Body maintains oversight over operations and functioning of the Certification Bodies and takes appropriate action wherever deviations/violations are observed/brought to its notice, in the certification programme of the Certification Bodies. As per available records from 2013 onwards, 6 Certification Bodies have been terminated, and 10 Certification Bodies have been suspended under NPOP. The certification bodies conduct annual inspections of their certified operators who could be an individual producer, processor, trader or a grower group. Further, unannounced inspections are conducted by the certification body and also by the Evaluation Committee under NPOP.
