Physical Verification of Compliance Reports of the Companies

Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to
state:
(a) whether the Government has issued any orders to Ambuja Cement located in Mundwa,
and Jindal Steel Works (JSW) located in Nagaur Lok Sabha Constituency for Physical
verification of compliance reports regarding conditions of environmental clearance;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) whether the Government has received the report of physical verification, if so, the
details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;
(d) whether the Government proposes to take stringent action against the said companies
in view of reports of non-compliance regarding the conditions of environmental
clearance sent to the Government by them; and
(e) if so, the details thereof along with the time by which the Government proposes to take
action against them and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) to (e) Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has sought from the Sub-Office
(SO), Jaipur of the Ministry, condition wise compliance report relating to environmental
clearance of M/s Ambuja Cement Ltd and M/s Jindal Steel Works (JSW) Cement located in
Nagaur Lok Sabha Constituency. Based on the site inspection conducted by SO Jaipur, a
preliminary report containing general observations on the overall environmental compliance
status of the project has been submitted to the Ministry.
As per the report submitted to the Ministry, M/s JSW Cement, Nagaur, is having one integrated
cement plant and one opencast lime stone mines. Both projects are having valid environmental
clearance from the Ministry and valid Consent from the State Pollution Control Board. The
cement plant is in construction phase and the mine is in initial development phase. SO, Jaipur
has reported that no major violation of Environment (Protection) Act,1986 has been observed,
prima facie for both the activities.
M/s Ambuja Cements Ltd., Marwar Mundwa, Nagaur, is having one integrated cement plant

from the Ministry and valid Consent from the State Pollution Control Board. The cement plantis having necessary pollution control devices and basic environment protection measures have

Necessary action in matters related to non-compliance of EC conditions is taken based on the
findings of EC condition-wise compliance reports of the Regional Offices/Sub Offices of the
Ministry.
