353. Shri Ve Vaithilingam:
Will the Minister of CORPORATE AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government recognises that artificial intelligence and automation
are reducing demand for traditional roles and disrupting the conventional career
ladder for engineering graduates, thereby making the internship scheme
particularly timely;
(b) if so, the details of the measures taken by the Government to expand
participation of youth in the internship scheme to ensure quality of the
experience and track outcomes in an Al-enabled workforce context; and
(c) the policy framework proposed by the Government for monitoring conversion
of internships into employment, evaluating the impact of Al-age training and
scaling the scheme to keep pace with emerging technology trends?

(a)& (b): The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS) Pilot Project provides an
opportunity to the youth to get training and gain experience and skills within the
real-life environment of various businesses or organizations with the intention of
enhancing their employability by bridging the gap between academic learning and
industry requirements. At least half of the internship period of 12 months is to be
spent in the actual working experience/ job environment.
Partner companies of PMIS Pilot Project covers a large number of diverse sectors
like Aviation and Defence, Automotive, Banking and Financial Services, Chemical
Industry, Consulting services, IT and Software Development, Healthcare,
Infrastructure and Construction, Metals and mining, Oil, Gas and Energy and roles
in different areas such as sales, accounting, supply chain management, processassociate, manufacturing associate, plant operation, including roles in Artificial
Intelligence.
The Ministry has taken various measures to expand participation of youth in the
scheme by actively collaborating with state governments, educational institutions
and industries association for implementation and promotion of the scheme. With
support from State Nodal Departments, awareness campaigns were carried out at
ITIs, Polytechnics, and graduate colleges in different districts of the country.
Education and Communication activities, including workshops, seminars, and
promotional campaigns - both online and on-ground were carried out to amplify
program visibility and to reach out to the target groups in various districts of the
State.
(c): PMIS is designed to enhance industry-relevant skills, improve job readiness,
and foster professional exposure through structured internships in India’s top-
performing companies and institutions to create job ready, skilled work force. The
scheme is not designed to provide placement offers.
