Will the Minister of EDUCATION be pleased to state:
(a) the total number of PM SHRI schools selected for upgradation in the State of Andhra Pradesh,
district-wise;
(b) the number of schools that have been selected in the NTR district along with the funds
allocated, released and utilised, school-wise;
(c) the number of amenities sanctioned to be built along with their physical and financial progress
school-wise;
(d) whether the Government plans to include more schools under the scheme in Andhra Pradesh
once the sanctioned ones are completed; and
(e) if so, the details of the number of schools that will be included in the Scheme?

(a): Under the PM SHRI scheme, a total of 935 PM SHRI schools have been selected for
upgradation in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The total number of district-wise PM SHRI schools
in the State of Andhra Pradesh is attached at Annexure I.
(b): Under the PM SHRI scheme, a total of 29 PM SHRI schools have been selected from the
district of NTR in the state of Andhra Pradesh. The details of amount of funds allocated, released
and utilised school-wise in the district of NTR is attached as Annexure II.
(c): PM SHRI scheme aims to showcase all the components of the National Education Policy
2020 and focuses not only on cognitive development, but also creating holistic and well- rounded
individuals equipped with key 21st century skills. The scheme focuses on creating an equitable,
inclusive, and joyful learning environment that caters to diverse backgrounds, multilingual needs,
and varied academic abilities. These schools are designed to engage students actively in their
learning process, ensuring that every child feels welcomed, cared for, and supported in a safe and
stimulating environment.
Further, PM SHRI scheme has a provision to equip PM SHRI schools with science labs,
ICT- enabled smart classrooms, library, furniture and playground. Further, digital learning tools
like smart boards supporting modern, technology-driven education. Efforts like the introduction
of LED lighting, composting facilities, and medicinal gardens create eco-friendly “green schools”.
States/UTs submit proposal by identifying infrastructural gaps such as ICT Labs, science
labs, lab equipment, digital libraries, Classroom Digital Boards, Smart Classrooms, LED lighting,
composting facilities etc. The component wise proposal submitted by the States/UTs are appraised
and sanctioned by the Project Approval Board (PAB) in consultation with the States/UTs
according to financial and programmatic norms and provision available.
(d) & (e): In the state of Andhra Pradesh, a total of 935 PM SHRI schools have been selected
up to seventh phase of selection process under transparent challenge method under PM SHRI
scheme.
