Parliament Question: PM Vishwakarma Scheme in Maharashtra

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 6425 TO BE ANSWERED ON 02.04.2026 PM VISHWAKARMA SCHEME IN MAHARASHTRA 6425. SHRI BHASKAR MURLIDHAR BHAGARE: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government can provide district-wise data for tribal-dominated districts of Maharashtra on the number of artisans registered, trained and certified under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, along with details of toolkits distributed and trades covered such as carpentry, bamboo craft, blacksmithy, tailoring and pottery, if so, the details thereof; (b) whether a significant number of tribal artisans from these districts have been onboarded on the scheme’s digital platform and if so, the details thereof and the number of beneficiaries who have availed collateral-free credit and interest subvention up to January 2026; (c) whether Government has reviewed the scheme’s outcomes in tribal areas of Maharashtra in terms of income enhancement, repeat credit uptake and linkage with local, forest-produce and e- commerce markets and if so, the details thereof; and (d) whether steps are being taken to expand outreach in remote tribal belts through mobile registration camps, vernacular training modules and coordination with Tribal DevelopmentDepartments and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a): PM Vishwakarma scheme was launched on 17.09.2023, to provide end-to-end holistic support to artisans and craftspeople of 18 traditional trades who work with their hands and tools. District-wise data for tribal-dominated districts of Maharashtra on the number of artisans registered, trained and certified under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, along with details of toolkits distributed and trades covered such as carpentry, bamboo craft, blacksmith, tailoring and potteryis at Annexure- I. (b): The number of beneficiaries who have availed collateral-free credit and interest subvention up from tribal-dominated districts of Maharashtra, upto January 2026 is at Annexure -II. (c): The successfully registered artisans, after three levels of verifications, are eligible to avail of all benefits of the Scheme including Skill upgradation, credit support, modern toolkits, digital incentive and marketing support. Through skill upgradation, beneficiaries' skills are enhanced and they are introduced to modern tools, best practices and innovative designs, along with marketing and entrepreneurial knowledge. The beneficiaries are also on-boarded on Udyam Assist Platform to be eligible for availing of benefits under various government schemes, including priority sector lending to scale-up their operations, modernize/upgrade their tools and business and enter the formal economy as entrepreneurs and contribute towards the larger goal of nation building.: 2 : (d): In order to ensure equitable access to the scheme for all artisans and craftsmen, Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises has undertaken a series of initiatives to spread awareness about PM Vishwakarma scheme. More than 760 awareness programmes/camps, over 50 workshops, 50 trade fairs, 34 State-level exhibitionsand more than 50 flash mobs have been organized across the country, including the tribal dominated districts of the Maharashtra. The Ministry has also undertaken extensive publicity through social media campaigns, radio jingles on All India Radio, newspaper advertisements, hoardings, digital displays and audio announcements in local languages at various public locations. To further enhance accessibility and ensure wider outreach, PM Vishwakarma Guidelines and Handbook for various trades have been translated into 12 regional languages is available in public domain.
