projects identified and sanctioned under the Sagarmala Programme
along with the total estimated cost, State-wise;
(b) the number and cost of completed projects and the number of
projects yet to be started/under implementation/pending due to delays,
State-wise;
(c) the list of port-road projects that have faced cost/time overruns
including the reasons therefor; and
(d) whether any port-road projects have been dropped/shelved, if so,
the reasons therefor and the names of such projects?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS
(SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI)(a) Sagarmala is a flagship Programme of the Government under the
Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways which aims to unlock the
untapped potential of India's extensive coastline, navigable
waterways, and strategic maritime trade routes for port-led
development and coastal community upliftment. By leveraging coastal
and waterway transportation, the program aims to minimize the need
for extensive infrastructure investments, thus making logistics more
efficient and improving the competitiveness of Indian exports.
