Parliament Question: POSHAN 2.0 Implementation and Industrial Workers Children Coverage

SHRI VAMSI KRISHNA GADDAM: Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state: (a) the number of Anganwadi centres operational in Peddapalli district of Telangana during 2024-25 under the POSHAN 2.0 scheme and the percentage of children from families employed in NTPC Ramagundam and Coal India Limited covered thereunder; (b) the nutritional interventions provided to address malnutrition among children of migrant workers in coal mining areas, including daily calorie and protein content of the supplementary nutrition; (c) the budget allocated for establishing model Anganwadi centres in industrial townships of Peddapalli district and the timeline for upgrading existing centres to prescribed infrastructure standards; (d) the coordination mechanism with Coal lndia Limited and NTPC for leveraging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds towards child development programmes in mining and industrial areas; and (e) the monitoring system in place to assess the health and nutrition status of children attending Anganwadi centres in coal belt regions and the frequency of health check-ups medical personnel? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT (SHRIMATI SAVITRI THAKUR) (a) to (e): As per the Poshan Tracker public dashboard, the number of Anganwadi centres (AWCs) operational in Peddapalli district of Telangana State during 2024-25 and details of children registered at AWCs from 0-6 years of age is available at the link: https://www.poshantracker.in/statistics. Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0 is an ongoing scheme under Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoWCD) to strengthen Nutrition services and to address thechallenge of malnutrition. As per the guidelines, this Scheme is open to all eligible beneficiaries including children under 6 years of age, pregnant women, lactating mothers and adolescent girls (of 14-18 years age in Aspirational Districts and North-Eastern region) in the country. Under the Mission, Supplementary Nutrition is provided to Children (6 months to 6 years), Pregnant Women, Lactating Mothers and Adolescent Girls in accordance with the nutrition norms contained in Schedule-II of the National Food Security Act, 2013, with special provisions for undernourished children. A normal child is provided 200 Kcal and 08–10-gram protein for 6-12 months; 400 Kcal and 15–20-gram protein for 1-3 years; and 400 Kcal and 15–20-gram protein for 3-6 years, along with recommended 7 essential micronutrients. Whereas a SAM child is provided 400 Kcal and 15–20-gram protein for 6-12 months; 700 Kcal and 25–30-gram protein for 1-3 years; and 800 Kcal and 25–30-gram protein for 3-6 years, along with recommended 7 essential micronutrients. Further, there is a provision of Saksham Anganwadi Centres in the Mission which refers to an upgraded and modern version of the traditional Anganwadi Centre equipped with modern digital software and hardware infrastructure including internet/wifi connectivity, LED screens, water purifier/installation of RO machines and smart learning aids, audio-visual aids, child- friendly learning equipment and artwork (educational painting, practice board for children, information board). 2 lakh AWCs have been approved for five years under Mission Poshan 2.0 for upgradation as Saksham Anganwadi Centres. A total of 66 AWCs have been allocated for upgradation to the district of Peddapalli and a total of Rs 39.60 lakhs has been allocated for the upgradation of these AWCs. MoWCD has recently launched the PANKHUDI portal in January 2026 to serve as a bridge between organizations, individuals, and corporates under CSR initiatives, enabling meaningful partnerships to support activities aligned with three flagship missions — Mission Saksham Anganwadi & Poshan 2.0, Mission Shakti, and Mission Vatsalya. This dedicated online portal offers a seamless platform to connect contributions with diverse services under these missions, driving holistic development of women and children, and fostering active participation in the shared goal of nation-building. For monitoring and tracking of all activities in the AWCs, Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and beneficiaries on defined indicators, the Ministry has launched ‘Poshan Tracker’ digital application. It has facilitated near real time data collection for Anganwadi Services. The application has enabled the Ministry and States & UTs to review the implementation of the scheme on various parameters including health and nutrition status of the children and to make course corrections. Out of six services provided at AWCs under the Mission Poshan 2.0, three services, viz., immunization, health check-up and referral services, are related to health and are provided by through NHM & Public Health Infrastructure. *****
