POTENTIAL POTASH MINERAL RESERVES IN WESTERN RAJASTHAN
†598. SHRI KULDEEP INDORA:
Will the Minister of MINES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government is aware of the potential potash mineral reserves in
certain areas of Western Rajasthan including the Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh
districts;
(b) if so, the details of the estimated potash reserves based on the geological surveys
and exploration conducted in these areas so far and the details of locations that have
been identified;
(c) whether any mining blocks have been auctioned or is an auction process proposed
for the exploitation of these potential potash reserves and if so, the details thereof;
(d) whether the Government is formulating any specific plan to reduce the country's
dependence on potash fertiliser imports and to boost regional industrial development
and employment generation through the development of these reserves; and
(e) the details of the likely timeframe for the implementation of the said projects?

(a) and (b): The location-wise details of resources of potash in Rajasthan are given at
Annexure-I.
(c): The Government has auctioned two blocks of Potash for the grant of the
Composite Licence in Hanumangarh district, Rajasthan. The details are as follows:

(d) and (e): After auction of mineral block, the preferred bidder undertakes further
