(a) whether the Union Government has any proposal for setting up of power
generation projects in Mizoram;
(b) if so, the details thereof, including the location, type of project and

THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF POWER
(SHRI SHRIPAD NAIK)
(a) to (c) : As per section 7 of the Electricity Act, 2003, any generating
company may establish, operate and maintain a generating station without
obtaining a licence under this Act if it complies with the technical standards
relating to connectivity with the grid referred to in clause (b) of section 73.
The Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) under the
administrative control of Ministry of Power undertake to establish power
generation projects based on the techno-economic viability of the project. At
present, there is no proposal for setting up of power generation project in
Mizoram by CPSUs under Ministry of Power.
