Parliament Question: Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF FINANCE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL SERVICES LOK SABHA UN-STARRED QUESTION NO. 3617 TO BE ANSWERED ON MONDAY, AUGUST 10, 2026/SHRAVANA 19, 1948 (SAKA) Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana 3617. SHRI BASTIPATI NAGARAJU: Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state : (a) the details of senior citizens enrolled under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana(PMVVY) since its inception, along with the total purchase price/premium mobilised under the scheme, State-wise and year-wise; (b) the details of beneficiaries enrolled under PMVVY in Andhra Pradesh since the inception of the scheme, district-wise and year-wise; (c) the policies matured and benefits paid under the scheme in Andhra Pradesh, along withthe steps taken by the Government to enhance coverage among eligible senior citizens; (d) the details of the number of premature exits, surrenders, and deaths of policyholders under the Pradhan Mantri Vaya Vandana Yojana, since its inception, year-wise and State-wise along with the benefits paid in such cases; and (e) the steps taken by the Government to improve awareness, especially in rural areas and among women, along with the outcome thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY) (a) & (b) Details as per Annexure-A & B (c) (d) & (e) Policies under PMVVY have been issued from the year 2017 with a fixed policy term of 10 years. These policies will start maturing from the year 2027. PMVVY was implemented through LIC with pan-India coverage, supported by awareness campaigns and outreach activities during the operational period (2017-2023) of the scheme. The scheme provided assured pension and strengthened the social security of eligible senior citizens including women by protecting them against fluctuations in interest income during old age. The scheme was available for subscription till 31.03.2023.
