Parliament Question: Preservation and Promotion of Cultural Heritage under KSVY

Shri Darshan Singh Choudhary: Will the MINISTER OF CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) whether financial assistance is being provided to artists, folk performers and cultural organizations across the country under the Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY) being implemented by the Government; (b) whether the Government proposes to expand the scope of the said scheme to preserve and promote traditional folk art, folk music, folk dance and regional cultural heritage; and (c) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor? ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) The Ministry of Culture administers Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojana (KSVY), an umbrella Scheme consisting a number of Central Sector Schemes under which financial assistance is provided to eligible cultural organizations, artists, folk performers working in the field of drama / theatre, music, dance and other performing arts across the country. The details of financial assistance provided during the last three Financial Years under the Kala Sanskriti Vikas Yojna are as under: Financial Year Funds Released (Rs. In Cr.) 2022-23 213.76 2023-24 218.36 2024-25 201.67 (b) & (c) The Ministry of Culture is continuously working to expand the scope and outreach of its schemes aimed at supporting artists and promoting diverse art forms through extensive publicity via newspapers, official websites, and social media platforms to enhance awareness and encourage wider participation. Further, the Zonal Cultural Centres (ZCCs) and the Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA) regularly organize cultural programmes and festivals across the country. These initiatives actively involve folk, tribal, and traditional artists, providing them with valuable platforms to showcase their talent and thereby strengthening the preservation and promotion of India’s rich cultural heritage. *****
