PRIVATISATION OF RAILWAYS SERVICES
2942. SHRI ARVIND GANPAT SAWANT:
Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Government plans privatisation in Railways, if so, the
details thereof;
(b) the details of the services of Railways identified for privatisation;
and
(c) the manner in which revenue, the Government will earn from such
privatisation?

(a) to (c): Indian Railways is wholly owned by Government of India. All
zonal railways, Production units, workshops etc. are integral part of
Indian railways. All assets like railway tracks, signaling system, rolling
stocks etc. are under the ownership of Indian Railways only. Trains
operations is the responsibility of Indian Railways.
Presently, there is no plan to privatise the Indian Railways.
