GOVERNMENTOFINDIA MINISTRYOFHEALTH AND FAMILYWELFARE DEPARTMENTOFHEALTH ANDFAMILYWELFARE RAJYASABHA UNSTARREDQUESTION NO. 2805 TOBE ANSWERED ON17TH MARCH, 2026 PROGRESS OFAB-PMJAYAND ABDM 2805. #SHRITEJVEER SINGH: Will the Minister of HEALTHAND FAMILYWELFAREbe pleased tostate: (a) the current national status of beneficiary coverage, number of empanelled hospitals and utilization of treatment packages under the Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Aarogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY); (b) the progress of the Health ID, digital health records created under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) andhospital integration;and (c) the status of recently approved new medical institutions and upgradation projects to enhancethe availability of secondary andtertiaryhealthservices? ANSWER THE MINISTER OFSTATEIN THE MINISTRYOFHEALTHAND FAMILYWELFARE (SHRIPRATAPRAOJADHAV) (a): Ayushman Bharat - Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) provides health coverage of Rs. 5 lakh per family per year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization to 12crore familiesconstituting bottom 40% of India’spopulation.Additionally, inMarch 2024, approximately 37 lakh families of Accredited Social Health Activists, Anganwadi Workers and Anganwadi Helpers were included under the scheme. The scheme was further expanded to cover 6 crore senior citizens of age 70 years and above, belonging to 4.5 crore families, irrespective of theirsocio-economic status. As on 28.02.2026, a total of 43.52 crore Ayushman cards have been created, including 1.14 crore Ayushman Vay Vandana cards created for senior citizens aged 70 years and above, and a total of 36,229 hospitals have been empanelled under the scheme across the country, out of which 19,483are public and16,746 are private hospitals. The latest national master of HealthBenefit Packageprovidescashless healthcare services for 1,961 procedures across 27 medical specialties. As on 28.02.2026, a total of 11.69 crore hospital admissions amountingtoRs. 1.73lakh crore have beenauthorizedunderthe scheme.(b):Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) was launched by the Government of India in September 2021 to support the development of an integrated and citizen-centric national digital health ecosystem. As on 11.03.2026, the details of overall progress of ABDM are as under:  Ayushman Bharat HealthAccount (ABHA) createdfor citizens- 86,64,46,563  Healthrecordslinkedtopatient’sABHA- 90,70,14,529  Facilitiesusing ABDM enabled software - 2,56,542 (c): The Government has recently approved Strengthening and Upgradation of existing State/Central Government Medical Colleges, Standalone PG Institutes and Government Hospitalsfor creationof5000PGseatsand5023MBBS seatsrespectively. *****
