(SNP) for children in the age group of 6 months to 6 years, State-wise;
(b) the number of Anganwadi workers and helpers covered so far under the Pradhan Mantri
Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY); and
(c) whether there is any proposal to enhance the honorarium, benefits and capacity-
building initiatives for Anganwadi Workers and Helpers, especially in backward
regions such as Jalgaon, if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (b) Under Mission Poshan 2.0, Supplementary Nutrition is provided to Children (6
months to 6 years), Pregnant Women, Lactating Mothers and Adolescent Girls to address the
intergenerational cycle of malnutrition by adopting a life cycle approach. The Supplementary
nutrition is provided in accordance with the nutrition norms contained in Schedule-II of the
National Food Security Act.
A comparison of data of NFHS-5, NFHS-4 and Poshan Tracker shows that India has shown
improvement in nutritional indicators of children which is depicted in the table below:

Insurance benefits have been provided to Anganwadi Workers and Helpers under Pradhan
Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) for life cover worth Rs.2.00 lakh (covers life risk
and death due to any reason) in the age group of 18 to 50 years and under Pradhan Mantri
Suraksha Bima Yojana for accidental cover of Rs.2.00 Lakh (accidental death and permanent
full disability) /Rs.1.00 Lakh (partial but permanent disability) in the age group of 18-59 years.
A total of 906863 Anganwadi workers and 831743 Anganwadi helpers are covered under the
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY) based on the data provided by States/UTs
during APIP 2024-25.
(c) Ministry has launched Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB) initiative on 10th May, 2023 for
upskilling of all anganwadi workers to build their capacity to provide early childhood care and
education (ECCE) and nutrition service to children below six years of age.
Under PBPB, Anganwadi Workers are undergoing specialized training through the Savitribai
Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD). This training is
aligned with Navchetana – the National Framework for Early Childhood Stimulation for
children from birth to three years – and Aadharshila – the National Curriculum for ECCE for
children aged three to six years, launched by the Ministry in 2024. Special emphasis is placed
on supporting children with disabilities (Divyang children), ensuring inclusive learning
practices. The training follows a Two-Tier Model wherein State-Level Master Trainers
(SLMTs) undergo a two-day intensive training (Tier 1), who in turn train Anganwadi Workers
through a three-day, interactive, hands-on module (Tier 2).
As on 31st July 2025, a total of 41,402 State Level Master Trainers (CDPOs, Supervisors and
Additional Resource Persons) and 5,81,326 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) have been trained
under the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB) initiative.
Regular field level trainings/workshops are conducted directly for Anganwadi Workers
regarding use of the Poshan Tracker Application. Poshan Tracker also features self-learning
videos for AWWs, enabling continuous capacity building and on-the-job learning through
digital modules. State and Block Coordinators provide on-ground handholding support to
AWWs for effective usage and implementation of the Poshan Tracker. Currently, no proposal
is under consideration to enhance the honorarium of AWWs/AWHs.
