Parliament Question: Progress under PMEGP

GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION No. 282 TO BE ANSWERED ON 02.02.2026 PROGRESS UNDER PMEGP 282. SHRI MAHENDRA BHATT: Will the Minister of MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES be pleased to state: (a) the number of small and micro industries in the State of Uttarakhand that have been provided financial assistance by the Central Government under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP); and (b) the names of the industries and the total number of jobs created under them? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR MICRO, SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES (SUSHRI SHOBHA KARANDLAJE) (a): Since its inception in FY 2008-09 to FY 2025-26 (up to 27.01.2026), 23,611 number of micro enterprises have been provided with financial assistance in the form of Margin Money (MM) Subsidy of Rs. 459.78 crore in the state of Uttarakhand under the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP). (b): Under PMEGP, micro enterprises are assisted across diverse industries throughout the country including the state of Uttarakhand such as agro food processing, coir, forest-based industries, handmade paper and fibre, mineral based, polymer and chemical, rural engineering and bio tech, services and textile. Since its inception in FY 2008-09 to FY 2025-26 (up to 27.01.2026), employment opportunities to an estimated 1.81 lakh persons have been generated in the State of Uttarakhand under PMEGP. *******
