Parliament Question: Projects Sanctioned under PMKSY in Bihar

LOVELY ANAND: Will the Minister of JAL SHAKTI be pleased to state: (a) the details of the projects approved under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) in Bihar; (b) the amount of funds proposed to be spent on all such projects; and (c) the details and the present status of all such projects? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF JAL SHAKTI (SHRI C R PATIL) (a) to (c) : A statement is laid on the Table of the House. 1STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (c) OF STARRED QUESTION NO. *285 TO BE ANSWERED ON 12.03.2026 IN LOK SABHA REGARDING “PROJECTS SANCTIONED UNDER PMKSY IN BIHAR” (a) to (c) Ninety-Nine (99) ongoing Major/Medium Irrigation projects (and 7 phases) with pari-passu command area development in 88 projects were identified and included under PMKSY during 2016-17. Out of them, two projects of Bihar, namely Durgawati Project and Punpun Barrage Project were included under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (PMKSY- AIBP) with pari-passu command area development in Durgawati Project under Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana-Command Area Development and Water Management (PMKSY-CAD&WM). Further, Nineteen (19) major and medium irrigation projects have been taken up for funding under PMKSY-AIBP after approval of implementation of PMKSY for the period of 2021-26. Out of them two projects, namely Kosi–Mechi Intra-State Link and North Koel Project are benefitting Bihar. Details of estimated cost and expenditure made under PMKSY-AIBP and CAD&WM projects are given at Annexure-I. Irrigation potential of 39.10 thousand hectare has been created and 19.13 thousand hectare command area has been developed in Bihar through these projects. Further, one cluster comprising 47 Surface Minor Irrigation (SMI) schemes and three cluster of 103 water bodies for Repair, Renovation and Restoration (RRR) have been included under Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP) Component of PMKSY. Details of estimated cost and expenditure made under PMKSY-HKKP projects are given at Annexure-II. Irrigation potential of 41.44 thousand hectare has been created through these projects. In addition, 8,214 ongoing watershed development projects under implementation covering an area of 39.07 lakh hectare were included under Watershed Development Component (WDC) of PMKSY during 2016-17. Out of them 135 projects covering an area of 0.612 lakh hectare were from Bihar. These projects have been provided central assistance of Rs. 182.61 crore. After approval of implementation of PMKSY for the period of 2021-26, 1220 additional watershed development projects covering an area of 50.16 lakh hectare have been included under PMKSY-WDC.
