SHRI KOTA SRINIVASA POOJARY: Will the Minister of SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) the measures taken by the Government to strengthen research infrastructure through repair, upgradation, maintenance, retrofitting and enhancement of analytical instrumentation facilities in academic and research institutions; (b) the details of grants sanctioned and released under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) during the last three years, discipline- wise and institution-wise; (c) the number of universities, research institutions and researchers supported under the Foundation till date; and (d) the manner in which the Foundation is expected to promote industry- academia collaboration, translational research and high-impact scientific research in the country? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) OF THE MINISTRY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AND EARTH SCIENCES (DR. JITENDRA SINGH) (a) Department of Science & Technology (DST) has a dedicated programme namely ‘Support for the Upgradation, Preventive Repair, and Maintenance of Equipment (SUPREME)’ to revitalize major analytical instrumentation facilities (AIFs) established through DST-funded projects. The programme provides support for the repair, upgradation, maintenance, retrofitting, or acquisition of additional attachments to enhance the functional capabilities of existing AIFs across various institutions/laboratories/academic institutions and thereby extend the lifespan of equipment. (b) to (c): The details of grants sanctioned and released to institutions under various schemes/discipline of Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), during the last three years is enclosed at Annexure-I. Till date, ANRF has supported 374 Universities, 375 Research Institutions and more than 8000 researchers. Page 1 of 10(d) ANRF is promoting priority-driven, solution-oriented research through multi-institutional, multidisciplinary and multi-investigator collaborations through implementation of ‘Mission for Advancement in High-impact Areas (MAHA)’ program. Under this program, the participation of relevant industries/PSUs/start-ups is mandatory. ANRF has launched various initiatives such as the Electric Vehicle (EV) Mission, 2D Innovation Hub, MedTech Mission, AI for Science and Engineering (AI-SE), Drones: Components & Sub- Assemblies Research & Innovation, 'Leapfrog Demonstrator and Water Programme, under MAHA program. In addition, ANRF has launched ‘ANRF Translational Research and Innovation (ATRI)’ program to support the development, validation and commercialisation of research outcomes through academia-industry collaboration.
