Shri Amarsing Tisso: Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is promoting Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam; (b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of AYUSH dispensaries or centres functioning in these districts; and (c) the steps taken by the Government to strengthen AYUSH healthcare delivery in tribal areas of the country? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV) (a) & (b) The Government is promoting Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam. Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) provides mobile healthcare services to Scheduled Tribe populations through its four centres at Srinagar, Bhadrak and Kurnool. Each centre identifies five tribal-dominant locations, which are regularly visited by a team of Unani physicians and staff for health screening, OPD services, health camps and Unani treatment. Awareness on preventive and promotive health is also created through lectures, group meetings, health camps and distribution of IEC material in local languages. Similarly, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) provides Ayurveda healthcare in tribal areas through the Tribal Health Care Research Programme (THCRP) implemented via 14 institutes in 14 states (list of institutes at Annexure), offering clinical services, health surveys and documentation of local health traditions. Furthermore, National Institute of Siddha (NIS) has opened an OP Unit at Tribal Area in Kothimangalam Village, Thirukazhukundram Taluk, Chengalpet District on 02-03-2018 for rendering healthcare service to tribal population.
