Will the Minister of Ayush be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is promoting Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the number of AYUSH dispensaries or centres functioning in these districts; and

(c) the steps taken by the Government to strengthen AYUSH healthcare delivery in tribal areas of the country? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE (IC) OF THE MINISTRY OF AYUSH (SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)

(a) & (b) The Government is promoting Ayurveda and other traditional systems of medicine in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts of Assam. Ministry of Ayush is implementing the Centrally sponsored Scheme of the National Ayush Mission (NAM) and following Ayush facilities

are functioning in these two districts:  Karbi Anglong district: 13 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) at Ahutoli SC, Amlokhi SC, Bagori SC, Benglangso SC, Borlengri SC, Kaipani SC, Klurdung SC, Kuli Gaon SC, Nailalung SC, Pachim Sunpura SC, Phangcherop SC, Rongkut SC & Silimkhowa SC  Dima Hasao district: 13 Ayushman Arogya Mandir (Ayush) at Borolalbong FW SC, Digerkhro FW SC, Dimadaowapu FW SC, Disagisim SC, Khalimdisa SC, Khanglung FW SC, Khangnam FW SC, Langkula FW SC, Lobang FW SC, Pedik FW SC, Rautila SC, Riachi Bangloo FW SC & Thaijudisabra FW SC 1The approval has also been accorded for a 30-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospital at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district.

(c) Under the National Ayush Mission (NAM), the Government supports States/UTs, including Assam, through grant-in-aid based on their State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) to strengthen Ayush healthcare delivery, especially in underserved and tribal areas. NAM focuses on expanding Ayush infrastructure and improving access to quality services across the country.

Key activities supported under NAM include: i. Operationalization of Ayush Health and Wellness Centres (Ayushman Arogya Mandir). ii. Co-location of Ayush facilities at PHCs, CHCs, and District Hospitals.

iii. Upgradation of Government Ayush Hospitals and Dispensaries. iv. Establishment of new 10/30/50-bedded Integrated Ayush Hospitals. v. Implementation of Ayush public health programmes with community outreach.

The Ministry of Ayush is strengthening Ayush healthcare delivery in tribal areas through its autonomous bodies namely Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) and Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) under the Tribal Sub-Plan (TSP).

Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine (CCRUM) provides mobile healthcare services to Scheduled Tribe populations through its four centres at Srinagar, Bhadrak and Kurnool. Each centre identifies five tribal-dominant locations, which are regularly visited by a team of Unani physicians and staff for health screening, OPD services, health camps and Unani treatment. Awareness on preventive and promotive health is also created through lectures, group meetings, health camps and distribution of IEC material in local languages.

Similarly, Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences (CCRAS) provides Ayurveda healthcare in tribal areas through the Tribal Health Care Research Programme (THCRP) implemented via 14 institutes in 14 states (list of institutes at Annexure), offering clinical services, health surveys and documentation of local health traditions.

Furthermore, National Institute of Siddha (NIS) has opened an OP Unit at Tribal Area in Kothimangalam Village, Thirukazhukundram Taluk, Chengalpet District on 02-03-2018 for rendering healthcare service to tribal population.

These initiatives collectively aim to improve access to traditional healthcare, promote disease prevention, and enhance health awareness among tribal communities. *** 2Annexure  List of the CCRAS Institutes of the THCRP Project:
