MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
(SHRI JITIN PRASADA)
(a) to (c): The Government of India is making continuous efforts to promote IT industry across
India including smaller cities and towns. It has initiated multiple schemes and programmes for
growth of IT industry in this regard.
Software Technology Park (STP) is one such important scheme in this effort. Under this scheme,
Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has established 70 centres across the country.
In Uttar Pradesh, there are 5 STPI centres operational at Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Noida and
Prayagraj for the promotion of IT/ITeS industry and Startup ecosystem in the country. These centres
provide statutory services, High Speed Data Communication (HSDC) services, state-of-the-art
incubation services and cloud services.
A total of 624 STPI-registered units in Uttar Pradesh have generated approximately 1,81,000
employment opportunities in the region. Additionally, 44 IT companies currently incubated across
five STPI centres in the State have generated around 489 employment opportunities.
In the last five years, an amount of Rs.46 crore approx. has been invested towards development of
above 5 STPI centres in Uttar Pradesh.
