GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3253 TO BE ANSWERED ON: 20.03.2026 PROMOTION OF IT INDUSTRY IN UTTAR PRADESH 3253. DR. LAXMIKANT BAJPAYEE: Will the Minister of ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY be pleased to state: (a) the efforts made by Government in promoting Information Technology (IT) industry in Uttar Pradesh and the details of Software Technology Parks (STPs) established in Uttar Pradesh so far, (b) the various facilities and support services being provided by these Parks for promoting IT growth; and (c) the manner in which these Parks are creating employment opportunity for the youth in Uttar Pradesh and the details of financial support provided by Government for the development of these Parks in the last five years? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE FOR ELECTRONICS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI JITIN PRASADA) (a) to (c): The Government of India is making continuous efforts to promote IT industry across India including smaller cities and towns. It has initiated multiple schemes and programmes for growth of IT industry in this regard. Software Technology Park (STP) is one such important scheme in this effort. Under this scheme, Software Technology Parks of India (STPI) has established 70 centres across the country. In Uttar Pradesh, there are 5 STPI centres operational at Kanpur, Lucknow, Meerut, Noida and Prayagraj for the promotion of IT/ITeS industry and Startup ecosystem in the country. These centres provide statutory services, High Speed Data Communication (HSDC) services, state-of-the-art incubation services and cloud services. A total of 624 STPI-registered units in Uttar Pradesh have generated approximately 1,81,000 employment opportunities in the region. Additionally, 44 IT companies currently incubated across five STPI centres in the State have generated around 489 employment opportunities. In the last five years, an amount of Rs.46 crore approx. has been invested towards development of above 5 STPI centres in Uttar Pradesh. ******
