GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 3542 TO BE ANSWERED ON 10.08.2026 Proposal for Diversion of Forest Land 3542. SHRI CHAMALA KIRAN KUMAR REDDY: Will the Minister of ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE be pleased to state: (a) whether the State Government of Telangana has submitted the proposal for diversion of 21.2642 hectare of forest land falling in Tiger corridor area of Kanwal Tiger Reserve in Kagaznagar division for laying of new third BG railway line along the existing tracks within railway boundary between Makhudi and Rechni road in KB Asifabad district, if so, the details thereof; (b) whether the said State has also sumbitted proposal for diversion of 15.2291 hectare of forest land in Medak and Kamareddy districts for widening to 2/4 lane with paved shoulders of Medak- Yellareddy section of NH-765 D in the State of Telangana, if so, the details thereof; and (c) the response of the Government to the above said proposals, proposal-wise? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE (SHRI KIRTI VARDHAN SINGH) (a) to (c): Proposal for diversion of 24.7539 hectare of forest land which includes 21.2642 hectare of forest land falling in Tiger Corridor in Kagaznagar Forest Division has been granted prior approval of the Central Government under the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Adhinyam, 1980 on 15.11.2021. Similarly, recommendation of Standing Committee of the National Board for Wildlife (SC-NBWL) under the provisions of the Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 were conveyed to the State Government on 20.04.2020. Further, recommendation of SC-NBWL under the provisions of Wild Life (Protection) Act, 1972 in respect of proposal involving diversion of 15.2291 hectare of forest land for widening of Medak- Yellareddy section of NH-765 D in Medak and Kamareddy districts of Telangana were conveyed to the State Government on 26.06.2025. The proposals submitted by the State Governments for obtaining the prior approval of the Central Government under the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Adhiniyam, 1980 for diversion of forest land are processed in accordance with the provisions of the Adhiniyam, the Rules made thereunder. The approval granted under the Adhiniyam, inter alia, includes conditions relating to compensatory afforestation, which are required to be complied with by the user agency. ***
