SMT MANJU SHARMA: Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state: (a) the number of Public Sector Banks currently functioning in the country along with their names; (b) whether the Government maintains data regarding the total number of accountholders, total deposits and total advances/loans disbursed by each of these Public Sector Banks; (c) if so, the details of the total number of accountholders, total deposits, and loans disbursed by each bank during the last five years, year-wise and bank-wise; (d) whether the Government has received any representations or recommendations from any quarter regarding the privatization of Public Sector Banks in the country; (e) if so, the details thereof; and (f) the reaction of the Government thereto and the steps taken by the Government in this regard? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR FINANCE (SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY) (a): As on date, 12 Public Sector Banks (PSBs) are functioning in the country. Their names are: (i) State Bank of India (ii) Bank of Baroda (iii) Punjab National Bank (iv) Canara Bank (v) Union Bank of India (vi) Bank of India (vii) Indian Bank (viii) Central Bank of India (ix) Bank of Maharashtra (x) Indian Overseas Bank (xi) UCO Bank (xii) Punjab & Sind Bank (b) and (c): As per the information received from Public Sector Banks the bank-wise details of the total number of account holders, total deposits and total credit outstanding is attached as Annexure.
