SHRI RAM SHIROMANI VERMA: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware that Shravasti district of Uttar Pradesh being an Aspirational district and having historical religious and international significance as a Buddhist tourism destination, still remains unconnected to the railway network; (b) whether the Government has approved any new railway project to connect Shravasti to the railway network and if so, the present status of the said project along with the fund sanctioned/spent, total estimated cost, the percentage of work completed so far including expected timeline for the completion and commencement of rail services; (c) whether the Government proposes to introduce trains increasing the number thereof and providing stoppage of major trains for the convenience of passengers from Balrampur, Tulsipur, Kauwapur, Gainsari and the Shravasti region; and (d) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (d): A Statement is laid on the Table of the House. ***** §STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (d) OF STARRED QUESTION NO.60 TO BE ANSWERED ON 22.07.2026 IN LOK SABHA (a) to (d): Bahraich-Khalilabad new line project (240 Km) passing through Shravasti district has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹4,940 crore. An expenditure of ₹1,525 crore has been incurred upto March 2026 and an outlay of ₹686 crore has been provided for this project for the year 2026-27. The project has been notified as “Special Railway Project” for acquisition of land through State Government. Major section-wise progress is as under: Section Status of works Khalilabad-Bansi Land acquisition: 246.81 Ha. out of 254.44 Ha. (54 Km) land acquired and balance acquisition taken up. Earth Work: 37.03L Cum. out of 61.71L Cum. earth work completed and further work taken up. Major bridge: Work taken up in all 26 major bridges. RUB: 27 out of 56 RUBs completed and work taken up in balance. ROB: Work taken up in all 4 ROBs. Station building: Work taken up in all 7 station buildings. Bansi-Ikauna Land acquisition: 48.02 Ha. out of 568.22 Ha. (120 Km) land acquired and balance acquisition taken up. Ikauna-Bahraich Land acquisition: 274.17 Ha. out of 329.60 Ha. (66 Km) land acquired and balance acquisition taken up. Introduction of 55061/55062 Nakaha Jungle-Aishbagh Passenger w.e.f. 26.05.2026 with stoppages at Balrampur, Tulsipur, Kauwapur and Gainsari. 2. Introduction of 14663/14664 New Jalpaiguri-Amritsar Amrit Bharat Express w.e.f. 14.05.2026 with stoppage at Balrampur. In addition, it has been decided to introduce 14045/14046 Gorakhpur-Delhi Amrit Bharat Express with stoppage at Balrampur and to extend 13507/13508 Asansol-Gorakhpur Express upto Balrampur with stoppage at Tulsipur. At present, Balrampur which is a major station located in Shravasti District is served by 26 train services providing connectivity inter alia to destinations like Delhi, Mumbai, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Amritsar, etc. Page 5 of 7Similarly, Tulsipur, Kauwapur and Gainsari stations are served by 22 train services, 08 train services and 08 train services respectively.
