## Policy Summary: Railway Level Crossings Between Alwar and Jaipur
As of August 20, 2025, a total of 52 level crossings (LCs) exist on the railway track between Alwar and Jaipur. Of these, 27 LCs have been sanctioned for elimination through the construction of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) or Road Under Bridges (RUBs), with these projects currently in various stages of planning and execution.
Between 2014 and June 2025, 29 ROBs/RUBs were constructed on the Alwar-Jaipur section, replacing existing LCs.
Nationally, the construction of ROBs/RUBs has seen significant progress, with 13,426 ROBs/RUBs constructed between 2014 and June 2025, including 1,562 in the state of Rajasthan. This compares to 4,148 ROBs/RUBs constructed between 2004 and 2014.
As of April 1, 2025, 4,402 ROBs/RUBs are sanctioned across Indian Railways at a total cost of ₹1,00,860 crore, including 541 ROBs/RUBs in Rajasthan at a cost of ₹5,383 crore. During the current financial year 2025-26 (up to June 2025), 15 ROBs/RUBs have been constructed in Rajasthan.
The completion and commissioning of ROB/RUB projects are subject to several factors, including the cooperation of State Governments in consenting to LC closures, agreement on approach alignments, approval of General Arrangement Drawings (GAD), land acquisition, removal of encroachments, shifting of utilities, statutory clearances, law and order conditions, and seasonal working conditions. These factors can influence project timelines.
The sanctioning and execution of ROB/RUB works is a continuous and ongoing process, prioritized based on the impact on safety and mobility in train operations and the impact on road users.

(a) the details of the number of railway level crossings on the
railway track between Alwar and Jaipur including number and
location of each crossings;
(b) the details of the number of level crossings out of the said
number where the construction of Road Over Bridge
(ROB)/Underpass has been completed so far including location
and year of construction thereof; and
(c) the time by which the construction of ROB/underpass at the
remaining level crossings is proposed including the expected
time-frame, status of proposal and approval along with budget
allocation?

(a) to (c) : Presently, total 52 Nos. of Level Crossings (LCs) exist on
Alwar-Jaipur section, out of which 27 Nos. LCs have been sanctioned
for elimination by the works of Road Over Bridges / Road Under
Bridges (ROBs/RUBs), which are at various stages of planning and
execution.During 2014-25 (June’25), total 29 Nos. ROBs/RUBs have been
constructed on Alwar-Jaipur section, in lieu of LCs etc.
Sanctioning and execution of works of Road Over Bridges/ Road
Under Bridges (ROBs/RUBs) is a continuous and ongoing process on
Indian Railways. Such works are prioritized and taken up on the
basis of its impact on safety and mobility in train operations and
impact on road users.
Nos. of ROBs/ RUBs constructed on Indian Railways during the
period 2004-14 vis a vis 2014-25 (June’25) is as under:

Completion & commissioning of ROB/RUB works depends on
various factors like cooperation of State Governments in giving
consent for closure of LC, fixing of approach alignment, approval of
General Arrangement Drawing (GAD), land acquisition, removal of
encroachment, shifting of infringing utilities, statutory clearances
from various authorities, law and order situation in the area of
project / work sites, duration of working season in a year for the
particular project / area due to climatic conditions etc. All these
factors affect the completion time of the projects / works.
