SHRI THARANIVENTHAN M S: Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state: (a) the details of the number of railway stations currently equipped with free Wi-Fi along with the plans to expand this service to additional stations in the near future; (b) the average daily usage of free Wi-Fi services at major railway stations including the number of users and the amount of data consumed; (c) the measures taken/being taken to ensure the quality and speed of free Wi-Fi connections at railway stations particularly during peak hours; (d) the estimated annual expenditure for maintaining free Wi-Fi services across railway stations and the manner in which this service is being financed; and (e) the other steps taken/being taken by the Government to extend this free Wi-Fi facility in all other railway stations of the country? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW) (a) to (e): Almost all railway stations across Indian Railways have 4G/5G coverage provided by the Telecom Service Providers.
