RARE EARTH PERMANENT MANAGEMENT SCHEME
460. SHRI N K PREMACHANDRAN:
Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) whether the Union Government initiated action to promote the Rare Earth Permanent
Management Scheme, if so, the details of action taken thereon;
(b) whether the Union Government support the initiative of Government of Kerala for
development of REPM Scheme in the State of Kerala, if so, the details of action taken thereon;
(c)) whether the Union Government initiated action to promote the Sale Linked Sensitive (SLS)
for the production and marketing of permanent management, if so, the details of action taken
thereon;
(d) whether the Government fixed any time frame for starting the industries for development and
production of Rare Earth Permanent Management, if so, the initiatives taken to start such
industries in the State of Kerala; and
(e) the details regarding the key features of the proposed Rare Earth Permanent Management
Production in Kerala?
ANSWER

(a) to (e): The Union Cabinet has approved the Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of
Sintered Rare Earth Permanent Magnet (REPM) with a financial outlay of Rs. 7,280 Crore on
26th November, 2025. The said scheme was notified on 15th December, 2025. The scheme has
provision to establish 6,000 metric tonnes per annum (MTPA) of integrated REPM
manufacturing capacity in the country by 5 beneficiaries over a period of 7 years including 2
years gestation period. The scheme is not region specific and supports manufacturing of REPM
on pan India basis.
