RE-INCLUSION OF ROAD SECTION IN NATIONAL HIGHWAY

(a) whether the Government has received any representation for
re-inclusion of the stretch from Govindpur to Mahuda Mod of the
erstwhile National Highway-32 into the National Highway, if so, the
details thereof;
(b) whether the stretch was de-notified from the National
Highway and declared a State highway on the request of the State
Government and was subsequently expanded to four lanes,if so, the
details thereof;
(c) whether the State Government lacks adequate resources for
maintenance of the said road after its widening, resulting in
deterioration of its condition;
(d) whether the alternative route from Govindpur to Purulia which
currently passes through Rajganj and Katras has been notified as
National Highway-18, if so, the details thereof; and
(e) whether the Union Government is considering re-notifying this
stretch as National Highway 18A and providing central assistance
for its maintenance and development, if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (c) The Stretch from Govindpur to the junction connecting NH-
18 at Mahuda Mod is no longer a part of National Highway as thestretch has been bypassed from Mahuda Mod to Rajganj (on NH-
19) during the development of NH-18 by National Highways
Authority of India (NHAI). However, as per information provided by
the Government of Jharkhand, the stretch from Govindpur to
Mahuda Mod has been made to four lane by the Government of
Jharkhand and is being maintained in traffic worthy condition.
(d) & (e) Route from Govindpur to Purulia via Rajganj & Katras is
already part of NH-18 and NH-19.
