Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Summary:** In response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No. 892, addressed on July 24, 2025, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways confirms receipt of a formal proposal from the Government of Karnataka regarding the realignment of the Mysuru-Nanjangud-Gundlupet-Ooty National Highway (NH766). This realignment is proposed to facilitate the expansion of Mysuru Airport. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has reviewed a revised alignment plan in consultation with the Government of Karnataka, as requested by the Airport Authority of India (AAI), to enable the diversion of the Mysuru-Nanjangud section of NH766. The government has assessed the impact of the realignment and determined that there is no major impact expected on the Mysuru-Nilgiri corridor, as the diversion is limited to the area necessary for the airport expansion. The government, in coordination with the State Government, intends to expedite the realignment decision to ensure the timely completion of the airport expansion project. The response was provided by the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Jairam Gadkari.
