SHRI UJJWAL RAMAN SINGH: Will the Minister of FINANCE be pleased to state: (a) whether it is true that the Government proposes to reduce GST rates to provide relief to the common man; (b) if so, the percentage of GST rate proposed to be reduced by the Government; (c) whether the reduction is likely to be implemented with immediate effect; and (d) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF FINANCE (SHRI PANKAJ CHAUDHARY) (a) GST rates are prescribed on the recommendations of GST Council, which is a constitutional body comprising of representatives from States/UTs and Centre. In its 45th meeting held on 17th September, 2021, the GST Council has constituted a Group of Ministers (GoM) on GST Rate Rationalisation.
