REJUVENATION OF WATER BODIES IN MANIPUR
NO. 3111. DR. ANGOMCHA BIMOL AKOIJAM:
Will the Minister of HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS be pleased to state:
(a) the number of water bodies rejuvenated in urban areas of Manipur to ease
water stress by increasing water storage capacity under AMRUT 1.0 and
AMRUT 2.0, as on date, district-wise;
(b) the names and locations of these rejuvenated water bodies, district-wise;
and
(c) the total funds sanctioned and released for these rejuvenation projects?
ANSWER
THE MINISTER OF STATE IN THE
MINISTRY OF HOUSING AND URBAN AFFAIRS
(SHRI TOKHAN SAHU)
(a) to (c): Water is a state subject; and management of water is the
responsibility of the State Government and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs)/
Urban Development Authorities. Government of India supplements the
efforts of the States through schematic interventions/ advisories. It
provides financial and technical support to the States through
implementation of various Missions/ schemes such as Atal Mission for
Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) and AMRUT 2.0.
States/UTs are empowered to select, appraise, prioritise, and
implement the projects within the broad framework of Mission guidelines.
Funds under AMRUT/ AMRUT 2.0 are allocated/ released to the States/
Union Territories and not project-wise.
Under AMRUT, no water body project was taken up by the State of
Manipur. Under AMRUT 2.0, the State has taken up 21 water body
rejuvenation projects worth ₹4.28 crore so far. District wise details of
these projects is given in ANNEXURE.
