Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Policy Summary: Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) Scheme** This document summarizes the Indian government's policy regarding the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) scheme. The RoDTEP scheme, operational since January 1, 2021, aims to refund embedded Central, State, and local duties/taxes on exported products that are not otherwise rebated or refunded. Initially applicable only to Domestic Tariff Area (DTA) units, the scheme's coverage was extended to Advance Authorisation (AA) holders, Export Oriented Units (EOUs), and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) units until February 5, 2025, via DGFT Notification No. 70/2023 dated March 8, 2024. Following a representation from the Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) requesting an extension, the government, via DGFT Notification No. 11/2025-26 dated May 26, 2025, continued the coverage for AA holders, EOUs, and SEZ units, effective June 1, 2025. The FIEO had requested the extension to be effective retroactively from February 7, 2025. As of August 19, 2025, the RoDTEP scheme is operational for DTA units, AA holders, EOUs, and SEZ units. The government believes the scheme provides a level playing field for exporters across sectors and enhances India's export competitiveness in global markets.
