GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.5885 TO BE ANSWERED ON 30.03.2026 RENOVATION OF TEMPLE TANK OF ARULMIGU ERUMBEESWARAR TEMPLE 5885. SHRI DURAI VAIKO: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) whether the Government is aware of the proposal for renovation of the temple tank belonging to Arulmigu Erumbeeswarar Temple located at Thiruverumbur in Tiruchirappalli district; (b) whether the said temple, which is listed under Section 46(1) of the Tamil Nadu Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments Act and maintained under the supervision of the Archaeological Survey of India, requires a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from the competent authority for undertaking renovation works in the temple tank; (c) whether an application seeking NOC has been submitted to the National Monument Authority (NMA) for carrying out the renovation works and if so, the present status of the application; and (d) whether the Government proposes to take steps to expedite the issuance of the NOC to enable the restoration of the temple tank in view of its importance for water conservation and public use? ANSWER MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) The temple tank belonging to Erumbeeswarar Temple is located within the prohibited & area of the protected monument Siva (Erumbeswarar) temple, Thiruverumbur. As per the (b) provisions of AMASR (Validation & Amendment) Act, 2010, any renovation / construction activities located within the prohibited / regulated area of the protected monuments requires No-objection Certificate from the Competent Authority, National Monument Authority(NMA). (c) An application for grant of permission to carry out repair and renovation of temple tank & belonging to Erumbeeswarar Temple, Thiruverumbur, District Tiruchirappalli was (d) received from the Executive Officer, Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) Department. After scrutiny, the application was found to be incomplete as requisite documents were not submitted. Hence, the application was returned to the applicant with the request to submit the revised proposal after due compliance. -----
