(a) whether lack of an adequate number of Road Over Bridges
(ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) on several major National
Highways (NHs) and busy railway crossings in the country is
causing the public to face serious traffic jams, wastage of time and
accidents, if so, the reaction of the Government thereto;
(b) the number of new ROBs and RUBs approved for smooth traffic
operation and prevention of accidents on National Highways and
railway crossings, during the last three years and the current year,
State-wise;
(c) whether the Government has conducted any assessment of the
wastage of fuel, pollution and economic loss to local trade caused
by traffic congestion at these crossings, if so, the details thereof;
and
(d) the steps being taken by the Government to provide a permanent
solution to these problems and to ensure timely movement of
emergency services such as ambulance and fire brigade?

(a) Policy of the Government mandates replacement of railway level
crossings along National Highways (NHs) with Road-over-Bridges
(RoBs) or Road-under-Bridges (RuBs) to minimise road user time
delay and to remove bottlenecks for smooth and safe traffic
operation. Further, Setu Bharatam Scheme has been launched in
