GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF CULTURE LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 5047 ANSWERED ON 23.03.2026 REVENUE GENERATED FROM PROTECTED MONUMENTS IN RAJASTHAN †5047 SHRI CHANDRA PRAKASH JOSHI: Will the Minister of CULTURE be pleased to state: (a) whether it is a fact that revenue is generated through entry tickets at protected archaeological sites across the Country annually; (b) if so, the details of revenue generated from major protected monuments in Rajasthan, including Chittorgarh, during the last three years; (c) the details of the funds allocated and utilised for the conservation, maintenance and development of protected monuments/sites in Rajasthan, including Chittorgarh, year-wise; (d) the details of the development work undertaken to improve tourist facilities at Chittorgarh and other major sites; (e) whether the Government is implementing any special schemes to further promote these sites globally and boost tourism; and (f) whether the Government has taken any initiatives for the development of Chittorgarh and other sites under Public-Private Partnership schemes like "Adopt a Heritage", and if so, the details thereof? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF CULTURE AND TOURISM (SHRI GAJENDRA SINGH SHEKHAWAT) (a) There are 143 ticketed monuments across the country under the Archaeological Survey of & India (ASI) out of 06 ticketed monuments in the states of Rajasthan including Chittorgarh Fort. (b) The revenue generated through entry tickets at protected archaeological monuments across the country is calculated and compiled annually. The details of revenue generated from major monuments in Rajasthan, including Chittorgarh, during the last three years and current year are given as annexure-I. (c) There are 161 protected monuments and sites under the jurisdiction of ASI in the state of Rajasthan including Chittorgarh Fort. Details of funds allocations and expenditure for conservation, maintenance and development of these monuments and sites during the last three years and current as under: (amount rupees in crore) Year Allocation Expenditure 2022-23 17.93 17.93 2023-24 23.40 23.40 2024-25 20.16 20.15 2025-26 17.70 15.15 (upto 05.03.2026) --(d) Basic tourist amenities and facilities at some of the monuments like Cultural Notice Board (Hindi, English, Chinese, Singhali, QR Code based & Braille), directional Signage, Pathway, with tactile strip, Benches, Ramps, Wheelchairs, Parking, First Aid, CCTVs, Baby Care Room, Publication Counter, Interpretation Centre, Toilet (Divyang, female & male), Drinking Water, etc. are provide for benefit of the tourists based upon the footfall and feasibility. The details of the amenities available at Chhittorgarh Fort and other major monuments/sites in Rajasthan are attached as annexure-II. (e) Through there is no schemes, the Government promotes monuments of ASI through various initiatives such as World Heritage Week, World Heritage Day, cultural programmes, awareness and campaigns through exhibitions etc. which help in promotion of tourism on these monuments.
