Revision of Salaries for Contractual AYUSH Doctors
3544. Shri Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka:
Will the Minister of AYUSH be pleased to state:
(a) whether it is a fact that the Government is planning to increase the salary of contractual
AYUSH doctors under the National Health Mission (NHM) in Odisha and if so, the details
thereof;
(b) the total number of AYUSH doctors engaged on a contractual basis under NHM in Odisha,
district-wise;
(c) the specific criteria and eligibility norms established for the revision of salaries of the
AYUSH doctors; and
(d) the details of the estimated additional annual cost to the Central exchequer for the
implementation of these revised pay scales for the financial year 2026-27 in this regard?
ANSWER

(SHRI PRATAPRAO JADHAV)
(a) The State Government of Odisha, Health & Family Welfare Department vide order no.
6332 dated 06.03.2026 has extended financial benefits in favour of Medical Officers (MO)
Ayush engaged in different co-located Primary Health Centres (PHCs)/Community Health
Centres (CHCs)/Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) under National Health Mission
(NHM) and State funded Mobile Health Unit (MHU) Ayush doctors in the State of Odisha in
the following manner:

2. 5 years and less than 10 years Rs.25,000/-per month
3. 10 years and less than 15 years Rs.30,000/-per month
4. More than 15 years Rs.40,000/-per month(b) As reported by State Government of Odisha, at present 2468 numbers of MO Ayush are
working in different co-located PHC/CHC/RBSK under NHM and State funded MHU in the
State of Odisha. The district-wise list of MO Ayush is furnished at Annexure.
(c) & (d) The State Government of Odisha has informed that Ayush MO in Odisha are entrusted
with various responsibilities including Non-Communicable Disease (NCD), National Leprosy
Elimination Program (NLEP), National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP),
Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A), National
Program for Control of Blindness (NPCB), Sickle Cell Anaemia & other National Programs.
Considering their workload and years of service, State Government has decided to provide
additional financial benefits as per Department order dated 06.03.2026. Further, they have also
informed that the estimated additional cost for the implementation scales for the financial year
2026-27 is Rs. 104.90 Crore, the expenditure will be borne entirely by the State Government
and there will be no financial implication to the central exchequer as it is purely State funded.
