Will the Minister of HEAVY INDUSTRIES be pleased to state:
(a) the details and total number of Government cement companies/factories currently
operational in the country, State and location-wise;
(b) whether many Government cement companies have been closed in the country during the
last few years;
(c) if so, the details of the cement companies/factories which have been closed along with the
reasons for their closure, name and location-wise;
(d) whether the Government proposes to establish new Government cement companies or to
revive closed Government cement companies to provide cement to the public at affordable
prices; and
(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a): Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI) is the only Central Public Sector
Undertaking in the business of manufacturing and marketing of Cement. At present, CCI is
having three operating units with installed capacity of 14.46 lakh MT per annum as detailed
below.
