SHRI NAVEEN JINDAL: ADV GOWAAL KAGADA PADAVI: Will the Minister of ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS सड़क परिवहन औि िाजमार्ग मंत्री be pleased to state: (a) the number of road accidents, deaths and injuries recorded on National Highways during the last five years including current year, State/UT-wise; (b) the number of deaths caused due to such accidents, age and group-wise; (c) the number of accident victims who have benefited under the Scheme for Cashless Treatment of Road Accident Victims since its nationwide roll-out, State/UT-wise; (d) the amount reimbursed under the scheme so far, State/UT-wise; and (e) the steps being taken to extend cashless-treatment coverage to all National Highway stretches? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS (SHRI NITIN JAIRAM GADKARI) (a) Government publishes report on “Road Accidents in India” based on data received from States/ UTs. Based on the data available with the Government, the State-wise details of total number of road accidents and fatalities on National Highways in the country, during the year 2022 to 2026 is at Annexure-I.(b) The information pertaining to the number of fatalities in road accidents, particularly on National Highways classified according to Age group is detailed at Annexure-II. (c) to (e) In accordance with the legal mandate under Section 162 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, PM-RAHAT (Road Accident Victims’ Hospitalization and Assured Treatment) has been launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 13.02.2026. The scheme was notified vide S.O. 2015(E) dated 05.05.2025. Furthermore, comprehensive guidelines detailing the process flow, roles and responsibilities of various stakeholders, and the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for its implementation have been issued vide S.O. 2489 (E) dated 04.06.2025. The details of claims raised, approved and settled against patients administered treatment under PM RAHAT Scheme (as of 28 July 2026) are attached as Annexure-III. Multiple communications have been done with States/UTs to designate additional hospitals especially around accident hotspots under the Scheme as per the Hospitals Empanelment guidelines issued vide OMS-12018/81/2024 dated 20 May 2025 and mandate hospitals as per local laws to provide emergency care to the victims of road accidents.Annexure-I ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PART (a) OF LOK SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1965 ANSWERED ON 30TH JULY, 2026 ASKED BY SHRI NAVEEN JINDAL AND OTHERS REGARDING ROAD ACCIDENTS AND CASHLESS TREATMENT.
