(a) whether the Government is aware that the decades-old demand for
construction of a fourlane road from Pirpainti block (NH-80) in Bhagalpur
district to Phulwaria Chowk in Katihar district along with a bridge over the
Ganga River, remains pending in the region, if so, the details thereof;
(b) whether the construction of the said bridge would reduce the distance
between Bhagalpur, Sahebganj (Jharkhand) and Katihar districts and
significantly boost connectivity, trade, agricultural marketing, education and
employment opportunities, if so, the details of the action taken so far in regard
to this project; and
(c) whether the Government is considering giving priority to this project and
initiating its approval and construction at the earliest and if so, the targets and
timelines fixed thereof for the same?

(a) to (c) Government receives proposals for undertaking feasibility
study/Detailed Project Report (DPR) for upgradation/improvement /construction
of National Highways (NHs). Decisions are taken based on outcome of
DPR/feasibility study in line with principles of PM-GatiShakti, inter-se-priority,synergy with PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan etc. As far as the
connectivity between Pirpainti (NH-80) to Katihar is concerned, the work of 4-
laning between Pirpainti to Sahebganj, along with construction of new bridge
across river Ganga at Sahebganj to connect Katihar has been awarded.
