As of April 1, 2025, 112 Road Over Bridge (ROB) / Road Under Bridge (RUB) projects, costing ₹1,710 crore, are sanctioned in Chhattisgarh, including seven projects worth ₹108 crore in Korba District. 65 ROBs/RUBs have been sanctioned in Chhattisgarh from 2022 to June 2025, with 4 RUBs completed. 26 railway projects are also underway in the state as of April 1, 2025.

(a) the details of Railway Over Bridges (ROBs) and Under Bridges
(RUBs) announced across Chhattisgarh during the last three
years, district and project-wise;
(b) the details of the number of projects commenced and completed
of these announced projects;
(c) the number of projects currently pending along with the specific
reasons for delay, if any and the revised timelines for their
completion; and
(d) the details of the specific plan/initiatives undertaken by the
Government to provide additional railway infrastructure or
services as a form of reciprocation and development for the
people of Korba district considering the substantial revenue
contributed by the Korba district to the railway department,
primarily due to its numerous coal mines?

(a) to (d) : As on 01.04.2025, 4,402 Nos. ROBs/ RUBs are sanctioned at
the cost of ₹ 1,00,860 Cr on Indian Railways including 112 Nos. Road
Over Bridge (ROB)/Road Under Bridge (RUB) at the cost of ₹ 1,710
crore in the State of Chhattisgarh, which are at various stages of
planning and execution. This includes 07 Nos. sanctioned works of
ROBs/RUBs at the cost of ₹ 108 crore in Korba District.Sanctioning of works of Road over Bridge (ROB)/Road Under
Bridge (RUB) in lieu of Level crossings (LCs) is a continuous and
dynamic process of Indian Railways. Such works are prioritised and
taken up on the basis of its impact on safety in train operations,
mobility of trains & impact for road users and feasibility etc.
Nos. of ROBs/ RUBs constructed on Indian Railways during the
period 2004-14 vis a vis 2014-25 (June’25) is as under:

During 2022-25 (June’25), 65 Nos. ROBs/RUBs have been
sanctioned in the State of Chhattisgarh, which are at various stages of
planning and execution. Out of which, 04 Nos. RUBs have been
completed and commissioned.
During 2014-25 (June’25), total 167 Nos. ROBs/RUBs have been
completed including 52 Nos. ROBs/RUBs completed during last 03
years i.e. year 2022-25 (June’25).
Railway projects are surveyed/ sanctioned/executed Zonal
Railway wise and not State-wise/Division-wise as the Railway projects
may span across State boundaries. Railway projects are sanctioned
on the basis of remunerativeness, traffic projections, last mile
connectivity, missing links and alternate routes, augmentation of
congested/saturated lines, demands raised by State Governments,
Central Ministries, Members of Parliament, other public
representatives, Railway’s own operational requirement, socio-
economic considerations etc. depending upon throwforward of
ongoing projects and overall availability of funds.As on 01.04.2025, 26 projects(06 New Lines and 20 Doubling),
covering total length of 1,931 Km length, costing ₹31,619 crore, falling
fully/partly in the state of Chhattisgarh, are at various stages of
planning and implementation, out of which 1023 Km length has been
commissioned and an expenditure of ₹16,325 crore has been incurred

In last three years 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25 and current
financial year 2025-26, 60 surveys (26 New Line and 34 Doubling)
covering a total length of 5657 km has been taken up falling
partly/fully in the State of Chhattisgarh.

Completion of Railway project/s including ROBs/RUBs depends
on various factors like quick land acquisition by State Government,
forest clearance by officials of forest department, shifting of infringing
utilities, statutory clearances from various authorities, geological and
topographical conditions of area, law and order situation in the area
of project/s site, number of working months in a year for particular
project site etc. All these factors affect the completion time and cost
of the project/s.
Presently, 13 Mail/Express services and 09 Passenger services
are catering to the needs of passengers of Korba station. These are
providing connectivity to various stations like Delhi, Bengaluru,
Thiruvananthapuram, Raipur, Visakhapatnam, Amritsar etc. Further,
passengers of Korba may also avail train services from Champa
(located near Korba) is well connected to major cities like Howrah,
Pune, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bilaspur, Tatanagar, Ahmedabad, Puri,
Jodhpur, etc.
Besides, Indian Railways constantly endeavours to provide
additional services for providing/improving connectivity by
introduction of new train services, extension and increase is
frequency of existing services, which are an on-going processes
subject to traffic justification, operational feasibility, availability of
resources etc.
