GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 1435 TO BE ANSWERED ON 11.02.2026 ROLE OF NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR WOMEN IN MANIPUR 1435. MS. SUSHMITA DEV: Will the Minister of Women and Child Development be pleased to state: (a) the number of complaints received by the National Commission for Women (NCW) from Manipur since May 2023, particularly relating to rape, sexual violence, trafficking, displacement and other crimes against women; (b) the nature of action taken by the NCW in each category of cases, including fact-finding visits, recommendations, coordination with State authorities, police and courts; (c) whether the NCW provided any legal aid, counselling, medical assistance, rehabilitation support or compensation facilitation to women survivors, if so, the details thereof; and (d) the number of cases in which justice has been secured, including FIR registration, arrests, charge-sheets or convictions, following NCW intervention? ANSWER MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT (SHRIMATI SAVITRI THAKUR) (a) and (b): The number of complaints registered in the National Commission for Women (NCW) from Manipur since May 2023 (upto 02.01.2026) is as under: Year Category Registered 2023 Alleged murder of a minor girl/Police Apathy 1 Right to live with dignity 2 2024 Domestic Violence 3 Right to live with dignity 3 2025 Domestic Violence 2 2026 - - Total 11(c) and (d): As per the procedure adopted by NCW while dealing with the complaints, depending upon the nature of the complaint and the relief sought, the matters are taken up with the appropriate authorities. Matters are followed up till the chargesheets are filed or till the matters are resolved. The current status of the cases registered by the NCW is at Annexure. ********Annexure ANNEXURE REFERRED TO IN THE REPLY TO PARTS (C) AND (D) OF THE RAJYA SABHA UN-STARRED QUESTION NO. 1435 FOR ANSWER ON 11.02.2026 REGARDING “ROLE OF NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR WOMEN IN MANIPUR” RAISED BY MS. SUSHMITA DEV THE CURRENT STATUS OF THE CASES REGISTERED BY THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR WOMEN FROM MANIPUR SINCE MAY,2023 (UPTO 02.01.2026) IS AS UNDER: Year Category Registered Status/Remarks 2023 Alleged 1 Two FIRs had been lodged in the matter and certain accused murder of a persons had been arrested and the matter has been handed minor girl over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for investigation. Right to live 2 One case has been closed following the filing of the charge- with dignity sheet. In the other case, information from the State is yet to be received. 2024 Domestic 3 The matter was closed after sharing the Action Taken Report Violence was shared with the complainant. In the second case, the complainant has expressed her unwillingness to pursue the matter therefore the case was deemed to be closed. In the third case, the complainant has not responded to the letter of National Commission for Women seeking details, so the case is deemed to be closed. Right to live 3 Two complaints have been settled and closed. with dignity In the third case, the matter was closed after sending the Action Taken Report to the complainant. 2025 Domestic 2 Both complaints have been closed as they were withdrawn by Violence the complainants. 2026 - - - Total 11 *****
