Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state:
(a) the details of the present progress of Rowghat-Jagdalpur rail project and the likely date of its completion thereof;
(b) the details of the proposals under consideration of the Government for starting new train services from Bastar Lok Sabha Constituency;
(c) the works undertaken to expand passenger amenities on the Kirandul- Visakhapatnam railway section; and
(d) the details of the plan to develop world class facilities at Jagdalpur Railway Station? ANSWER MINISTER OF RAILWAYS, INFORMATION & BROADCASTING AND ELECTRONICS & INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI ASHWINI VAISHNAW)
(a) to (d): The work of Rowghat – Jagdalpur New Line (140 Km) Project has been sanctioned at a cost of ₹ 3,513 Cr. 249 Ha land out of total 818 Ha has been acquired for the project. The status is as under:

As the railway network straddles across State boundaries/boundaries of Parliamentary constituencies, trains are introduced, as per network requirement, across such boundaries. However, Jagdalpur, Dantewara & Kirandul are the important stations serving the Bastar constituency.
Jagdalpur is served by 10 train services while Dantewara & Kirandul are served by 04 train services each. These are listed below:-

Station Redevelopment:
Ministry of Railways has launched Amrit Bharat Station Scheme for redevelopment of stations with a long-term approach.
The scheme involves preparation of master plans and their implementation in phases to improve the stations of Indian Railways. The master planning, keeping in view the necessity of each station, includes:
Improvement of access to station and circulating areas Integration of station with both sides of city Improvement of station building Improvement of waiting halls, toilets, sitting arrangement, water booths Provision of wider foot over bridge/subway to commensurate with passenger traffic Provision of lifts/escalators/ramps Improvement of platform surface/ provision of platform shelter Provision of kiosks for local products through schemes like ‘One Station One Product’ Parking development Page 6 of 13 Amenities for Divyangjans Better passenger information systems Provision of air concourse, executive lounges, Multimodal integration, landscaping, etc.
The scheme also envisages sustainable and environment friendly solutions etc. as per necessity, phasing and feasibility and creation of city centre at the station in the long term.
So far, 1,340 stations have been identified for development under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, out of which, 7 stations including Araku, Kottavalasa Junction, Simhachalam and Visakhapatnam stations of Andhra Pradesh, Jagdalpur station of Chhattisgarh and, Jeypore and Koraput Junction stations of Odisha are located in Kirandul–Visakhapatnam railway
section. The names of stations identified for development under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha are as

Andhra Pradesh Araku station: The works of platform shelters, 12 m wide foot over bridge and parking have been completed. The works of new station building, improvement of circulating area and lifts have been taken up.
Kottavalasa Junction station: The structural works of new station building and platform shelters have been completed. The works of 12 m wide foot over bridge and improvement of platform surface have been taken up.
Simhachalam station: The works of platform shelters and 12 m wide foot over bridge have been completed. The works of new station building, improvement of platform surface and improvement of circulating area have been taken up.
Vishakhapatnam station: The works of improvement of parking on east side have been completed. The works of foot over bridge, improvement of circulating area, construction of platform no. 14, west side parking and foundation work of new west side station building have been taken up.
Hindupur station: The works of improvement of waiting hall and Rail Main Service building have been completed. The works of improvement of station building at main entry, entrance porch at main entry, new station building at second entry, platform shelter, parking, toilets, improvement of circulating area, lift and 12 m wide foot over bridge have been taken up.
Page 10 of 13Chhattisgarh Jagdalpur station: The works of new station building, 12 m wide foot over bridge, improvement of platform surface, improvement of circulating area, toilets, platform shelters and waiting hall have been completed. The works of lifts, signages and installation of Coach Indication Boards have been taken up.
Akaltara station: The works of improvement of station building, improvement of circulating area, parking, waiting halls, booking counter, platform shelters, new toilet, landscaping, installation of CCTV and signages have been completed. The work of 12 m wide foot over bridge has been taken up.
Bilaspur station: The foundation works of new North-East side station building and new South-West side station building have been completed. The works of superstructure of new North-East side station building, new South-West side station building, residential quarters, substation building and service buildings have been taken up.
Korba station: The works of improvement of station building, waiting halls, booking counter, improvement of circulating area, parking, platform shelters, landscaping, installation of CCTV and signages have been completed. The work of 12 m wide foot over bridge has been taken up.
Mahasamund station: The structural works of new station building, improvement of platform surface and platform shelters have been completed. The finishing works of new station building, improvement of circulating area and 12 m wide foot over bridge have been taken up.
Page 11 of 13Odisha Jeypore station: The works of improvement of waiting hall, toilet and 12m wide foot over bridge have been completed. The works of improvement of station building, circulating area, installation of signages and lifts have been taken up.
Koraput Junction station: The structural works of new station building, 12 m wide foot over bridge and parking have been completed. The works of new station building, platform shelters, 12 m wide foot over bridge and improvement of circulating area have been taken up.
Cuttack station: The works of new second entry station building, structural work of new main entry station building and improvement of platform surface have been completed. The works of air concourse, improvement of circulating area, foot over bridge, platform shelters, finishing works of new main entry station building, lifts and escalators have been taken up.
Mancheswar station: The works of extension of station building, improvement of circulating area, approach road, booking office, platform shelters and toilet have been completed. The works of improvement of station building, skywalk connecting extended station building and lifts have been taken up.
Puri station: The structural works of new station building and platform shelters have been completed. The works of improvement of platform surface, improvement of circulating area, finishing works of new station building, lifts and escalators have been taken up.
Page 12 of 13Further, development / redevelopment / upgradation / modernisation of stations on Indian Railways is a continuous and ongoing process and works in this regard are undertaken as per requirement, subject to inter-se priority and availability of funds. Development / redevelopment / upgradation / modernisation of a station is carried out based on category of station/condition/traffic handled etc.
Development / upgradation / modernisation of stations including under Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is generally funded under Plan Head-53 ‘Customer Amenities’. The details of allocation and expenditure under Plan Head-53 are maintained Zonal Railway-wise and not station-wise or state- wise.
Andhra Pradesh is covered under the jurisdiction of five railway zones, namely, East Coast Railway, Southern Railway, South Central Railway, South Western Railway and South Coast Railway. For these zones, an allocation of ₹ 3,134 crore has been made for the current financial year, out of which an expenditure (up to June, 2026) of ₹ 1,361 crore has been incurred so far.
Chhattisgarh is covered under the jurisdiction of two railway zones, namely, South East Central Railway and East Coast Railway. For these zones, an allocation of ₹ 1,132 crore has been made for the current financial year, out of which an expenditure (up to June, 2026) of ₹ 486 crore has been incurred so far.
Odisha is covered under the jurisdiction of three railway zones, namely, South Eastern Railway, East Coast Railway, and South East Central Railway. For these zones, an allocation of ₹ 1,517 crore has been made for the current financial years, out of which an expenditure (up to June, 2026) of ₹ 670 crore has been incurred so far.
