Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the number of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) approved for upgradation, actually
upgraded and operational into Saksham Anganwadis in Andhra Pradesh, during the last
three years, district-wise;
(b) the amount of funds allocated, released, and utilized for the upgradation of AWCs in
Andhra Pradesh, during the said period, district-wise;
(c) the number of Anganwadi workers, including State Level Master Trainers, who have
been upskilled or trained under the scheme in Andhra Pradesh, during the said period,
district-wise;
(d) the number of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers currently benefiting
from the upgraded AECs in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise;
(e) the current vacancy status of Anganwadi workers in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise; and
(f) whether any delays or challenges have been faced in the upgradation process of AWCs,
if so, the details thereof ?

(a) to (f) During the 15th Finance Commission cycle, 2 lakh Government owned Anganwadi
Centres (AWCs) @ 40,000 AWCs per year are strengthened and upgraded as Saksham
Anganwadis for improved nutrition delivery and for early childhood care and development
under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0. Saksham Anganwadis are equipped with
infrastructure better than the conventional Anganwadi Centres by providing LED screens,
water purifier/installation of RO Machine, Poshan Vatika, ECCE and BALA Paintings.
Prerequisites for an Anganwadi Centre to be considered for upgradation to Saksham
Anagnwadi Centre includes Government owned building, availability of Electricity/power
supply, drinking water facility, functional toilet and kitchen.
As on date, a total of 2 Lakh AWCs have been approved for upgradation as Saksham AWCs
including 9958 AWCs in the State of Andhra Pradesh. The district wise details of approved
AWCs for upgradation to Saksham AWCs in the State of Andhra Pradesh allocated are placed
at Annexure. Funds amounting to Rs. 59.75 Crore have been allocated to the State for
upgradation out of which Rs. 5.25 Crore has been released as on date.As on 22nd July 2025, a total of 2050 State Level Master Trainers (CDPOs, Supervisors and
Additional Resource Persons) and 53,321 Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) have been trained
under the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB) initiative in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
Details of children, pregnant women and lactating mothers currently benefiting from the
AWCs in Andhra Pradesh, district-wise are available on Poshna Tracker public dashboard and
can be accessed at https://www.poshantracker.in/statistics.
At present, as informed by the State of Andhra Pradesh, 1025 positions of AWWs are vacant
in the State.
