SAKSHAM ANGANWADI CENTRES IN ANDHRA PRADESH
3379. SHRI LAVU SRI KRISHNA DEVARAYALU:
Will the Minister of WOMEN AND CHILD DEVELOPMENT be pleased to state:
(a) the details of Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) that have been upgraded into Saksham
Anganwadi Centres, State-wise and district-wise for Andhra Pradesh;
(b) the funds allocated and utilised for the upgradation of these AWCs, State-wise and
district- wise for Andhra Pradesh;
(c) the details of training and support provided to Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) to enhance
their skills and effectiveness in the upgraded Saksham AWCs; and
(d) whether Government has planned or proposed projects for the upgradation of additional
AWCs, if so, the details thereof, State-wise and district-wise for Andhra Pradesh?
ANSWER

(a) to (d) Under Mission Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, two lakh Anganwadi Centres
(AWCs) located in Government buildings have been sanctioned for upgradation as Saksham
Anganwadis for delivery of improved nutrition and for Early Childhood Care and Education in
the 15th Finance Commission cycle. Saksham Anganwadi Centres (AWCs) are provided with
infrastructure such as LED screens, water filtration system, Poshan Vatika, Early Childhood
Care and Education (ECCE) material and Building as Learning Aid (BALA) paintings. A total
of 9,958 Anganwadi Centres have been approved for upgradation as Saksham Anganwadis in
the State of Andhra Pradesh.
The State wise details of AWCs approved for upgradation to Saksham AWCs and funds
released for upgradation are placed at Annexure I.
The District wise list of AWCs approved for upgradation to Saksham AWCs in the State of
Andhra Pradesh is placed at Annexure II.
The Ministry, through the Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi (PBPB) initiative under Mission Saksham
Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, has adopted a phased implementation strategy for scaling up
‘Aadharshila’ and ‘Navchetana’ across all Anganwadi Centres. The major steps undertaken
include capacity building of State Level Master Trainers (SLMTs) through PBPB Round 1 andRound 2 training programmes, cascade training of Anganwadi Supervisors and Anganwadi
Workers (AWWs) to ensure uniform implementation of the curricula, provision of Aadharshila
(3–6 years) and Navchetana (0–3 years) curriculum packages, facilitator handbooks, activity
based learning materials, and implementation guidelines to frontline functionaries and age
appropriate Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) practices through the Aadharshila
and Navchetana curricula. Aadharshila and Navachetana curricula are implementing from June
2025 in all AWCs of Andhra Pradesh.
