ADOOR PRAKASH: Will the Minister of PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS be pleased to state: प(cid:419)न, पोत प(cid:464)रवहन और जलमाग (cid:91) म(cid:287)ं ी (a) whether the Union Government is aware of the move by Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited to sell 49 per cent stake in Vizhinjam Port to foreign company; (b) if so, the details thereof; (c) whether the Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited have submitted any proposal before the Union Government for obtaining mandatory clearances for foreign investment; and (d) if so, the details thereof? ANSWER MINISTER OF PORTS, SHIPPING AND WATERWAYS (SHRI SARBANANDA SONOWAL) (a) & (b). Ports other than Major Ports, also referred to as non-major or minor ports, are under the administrative control of the respective State Governments, and their development falls within the jurisdiction and responsibility of the States. Vizhinjam International Seaport is a non-major port being developed by the Government of Keralam under the Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode through a Concession Agreement with Adani Vizhinjam Port Private Limited (AVPPL). The Government of Keralam has informed that it has received a proposal from AVPPL for prior approval of the Concessioning Authority i.e., the Government of Keralam for transfer of 49 percent equity in the company (AVPPL). (c) & (d): No proposal has been received by the Union Government. *****
